Teves Family of Bais City Negros Oriental

 The family history of the patriarch Anatalio  Villamil Teves, also known as Tan Tiao-yang (陳朝陽), begins with his first marriage to Alejandra Pinili y Pis-an. This union produced two daughters, Anselma Cayetana and Isidora, whose lineages became deeply intertwined with the Villanueva family in Bais City Negros Oriental.

Their first daughter, Anselma Cayetana Pinili Teves (1845–1883), became the first wife of Hermenegildo Villanueva y Regis, a Philippine-born Chinaman from Parián, Cebu, who was the son of Aniceto Villanueva Dee and Cipriana María Sotera Regis of Carcar, Cebu. Together, Anselma and Hermenegildo raised a large family of eleven children.


 Their family grew to include Leonardo Villanueva, who married Petra Lasmarías; María Villanueva, who had a son named Roque Villanueva; Eligio Villanueva, who married Nicolasa Boladola; and Filómena Villanueva, who married Juan Antonio Villacampa y Jamito. They were also the parents of Ramona Jácoba Villanueva, wife of Judge  Zacarías Alo, and Hermenegildo "Capitán Bindoy" Villanueva, who married Asunción Larena y dela Peña as his first wife and  he has children with Nemesia Diputado y Gonzales from Sibulan Negros Oriental. Their other children included Josefa Escolástica Juanita Villanueva, who married Simplicio Villegas y Silva of Trinidad (now Guihulñgan); Isidro Arcadio Villanueva, who married Gordonia Catacután of Looc Bais City; Juan Villanueva, who first married Victoria Dy-con and later Pacita Gandionco y Veloso; Vicente Villanueva; and Governor Enrique Cayetano Villanueva, who married Francisca Baena y Gómez.

Anatalio and Alejandra’s second daughter, Isidora Pinili Teves, had a daughter (hija natural) named Eulogia Pinili Teves. Following the passing of her aunt Anselma, Eulogia became the second wife of her uncle-by-marriage, Hermenegildo Villanueva y Regis. From this second marriage, three children were born: Governor Práxedes Eduardo Daniel Villanueva, who married Rufina Pinili y Mapeso his second cousin; Governor Guillermo Zósimo Villanueva, who married Lourdes Atherton y Velasco; and Dolores Castora Dorotea Villanueva, who married Antonio Baena y Gómez.


Pedro Pinili Teves only brother of Anselma and  Isidora ,He is married to Carmen Alcon most of his descendants are in Tanjay and Bais one of those is the family of Carmen Baena Teves married to Dodong Larena (Bais Vice Mayor of the 1930’s and Mayor 1945-1949). Another descendant is the owner of the Teves Liner travel as a regular passage bus for Dumaguete to Bais vice-versa.


Later in life, the patriarch Anatalio Teves Villamil entered into a second marriage with Josefa Ornia. This union established two distinct branches of the Teves family through their two children: Aguedo Teves, who first married Carmen Cielo y Cornelio and later wed Filómena Orilla y Abellón, and Tomás Teves, who married Leoncia Buenavista y Amil.
